    Blockchain forensics applies forensic discipline — reproducibility, integrity and documented methodology — to public ledger analysis.

    Acquisition and integrity

    Ledger data and web artefacts are acquired with recorded sources and timestamps, then hashed. Any later question about tampering is answered by re-computing the hash.

    Reproducibility

    Every conclusion cites the data that supports it. A third-party analyst with the same transaction hashes must be able to reach the same result using the stated method.

    Confidence levels

    Findings are graded: confirmed on-chain fact, high-confidence inference, or probable association. Collapsing these into a single assertive voice is the most common failure in low-quality reports.

    Stating uncertainty

    An explicit statement of what could not be established strengthens a report. Counsel needs to know where the case is exposed.

    The forensic report

    A complete report contains an executive summary, scope, methodology, findings, visualisations, an evidence register and technical annexes.
